Elementary Mathematics through Science Technology and Engineering
This module provides instructional strategies that support elementary
school teachers in implementing STEM contexts across the curriculum in
their classrooms and increases their understanding of the STEM
disciplines. Participants will become familiar with the connections
between engineering, science, and technology as contexts in which
to teach high school mathematics. Problem-solving activities
with STEM contexts that have mathematics as the underlying structure
are presented. Participants look at current mathematics, engineering
and science standards for opportunities to tie STEM context activities
into their curriculum. They analyze student work from these activities
and learn where to find resources to bring STEM contexts into their
classrooms.
